Have Your Say – Be Heard

With Kent County Council elections on the way on Thursday 1 May, we’re reminding people they need to be registered to vote by Friday 11 April, and of the various ways in which they can cast their vote and how they can stand for election. You can register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

Vote by post – you can now apply for a postal vote online using the following link: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.  Apply before 5pm on Monday 14 April to vote by post in this election.

Voting at a polling station – if you choose to vote at your local polling station, you will need to bring photographic ID in order to receive a ballot paper. A list of valid photographic ID can be found on our website here: www.dover.gov.uk/Council–Democracy/Elections/Voter-ID.aspx.

Free voter ID – if you do not have any of the ID listed, you can apply for free voter ID here, called a Voter Authority Certificate: www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate. You will need to apply before 5pm on Wednesday 23 April for the ID to be valid for this election.

Thinking of standing for election – information for candidates can be found on our web pages here: www.dover.gov.uk/Council–Democracy/Elections/Standing-as-a-Candidate.aspx. Nominations can be accepted by the Deputy Returning Officer or the Assistant Deputy Returning Officers between 10am and 4pm each weekday from Monday 24 March until Wednesday 2 April at the Council Offices in Whitfield. You will be able to collect pre-printed nomination packs from the Elections Team following the Candidates and Agents event which starts at 6:30pm on Wednesday 19 March at the Council Offices in Whitfield.
