
Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund
Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund is a legally registered charity whose objective is to fund and support public works that are specifically aimed at benefiting the Town and its residents.
The Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund is governed by “An Act for Building a Bridge over the water or haven between the town of Sandwich and the opposite shore, in the County of Kent” (1754) which is primary legislation.
The Act thus defines the purpose of the Toll Bridge Fund, which is investment of any surplus in its possession in the promotion of public works within the town of Sandwich, which is works of clear benefit to the people of Sandwich, or a group among the people of Sandwich. Sandwich Town Council is the sole trustee of the Toll Bridge Fund; however, Sandwich Town Council and Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund are completely separate entities.
Committees
Museum & Archive Committee
Role of Committee: To support the management of the Guildhall Museum and assist the Museum Co-ordinator with reviewing policies and procedures as and when necessary. To consider recommendations, requests, and improvements in respect of the Museum and Archive Collection as and when required.
Finance Committee
Role of Committee: To consider the management and control of finances, investments, and resources of Sandwich Toll Bridge Fund. In addition to these Committees there can at any time be Working Groups formed to work on specific projects.
